I've been meaning to set up a blog for many years now and as I play around on the website tonight, making a few needed updates, here I am, writing a blog.
Hello, I'm Sophie; Founder | Principal Interior Designer | Creative Director of Lennon House. If you're still reading, thank you! I actually love to write and it used to be a massive outlet for me. However, as life has gotten busy over the last decade, writing has seemed to drop from my repertoire in favour of other creative outlets... oh, and running a business, being a solo mum, completing a degree, trying to survive in the thing we call life etc.
So here's to a (another) new challenge. Blog writing. I am a person that has so much to say and so much knowledge and wisdom to share, but I am an introvert and often worry that maybe people don't care too much about the things I want to talk about or what I have to say. I guess we'll see.
Who actually am I? Well, I am first and foremost Mum to my beautiful boy Lennon and our two dogs Frankie and Estella. I grew up listening to The Beatles and being very musical, playing numerous instruments and singing in bands. My musicality lead me to wanting to dive deeper into the meanings behind these lyrics that I was so intrigued by, yearning to understand all the hidden subtexts amongst these brilliant songs from the 60s, 70s and 80s. As I gained maturity, my interest in John Lennon and all of his philosophies continued to grow and grow. I devoured countless biographies of his life and death during my teens and twenties and decoded many of his songs as much as possible. For as long as I can remember, I was always going to name my child Lennon. And here we are today. I have my beautiful boy Lennon, and my Interior Design Studio named after him - Lennon House.
There are so many layers to me as a person and my journey to discovering my creativity; accepting it, accepting how polar opposite I am to the rest of my highly science and medical based family, and concurrently accepting myself. Not only accepting myself, but truly allowing myself to be who I am, taking leaps into this creative calling and being so very appreciative of some truly magical creative gifts that come naturally to me, that perhaps make me very unique.
If it's not obvious to you yet, I am a rambler. And I've rambled on enough about a very brief introduction to myself.
I have a list that I keep on my phone of topics I would love to write about - all Interior design focused. So while this blog entry doesn't touch on interiors whatsoever, it is the basis of getting to know the writer, whose words I hope you look forward to reading.
I would also LOVE to hear from you! I would love to know what kind of topics you'd like to see from us or what kind of advise you need. Please don't be shy.
For now, I'm going to pat myself on the back because I feel like it's starting something that is always the hardest part, and look!! I've started a blog. I'll be back soon to chat more, and I promise it won't be a random, self indulgent chat :-)
